Born in Beppu in 1954; lives in Oita City. Katsura Yamauchi (山内桂) started playing sax and improvising while a university student in Matsuyama. He quit his company job in October 2002 and thereafter became a full-time musician. Salmo Sax, his original sound art, is created from the reverberation of sound itself, and cellular-level communication. Yamauchi has been developing Salmo Sax in Japan and other countries, mainly through solo performances.
