Katreeya English is a famous Thai singer and actress who began her career in the 1990s and reached her peak popularity during the 2000s. Katreeya first entered the entertainment industry by starring in a music video for Jay Jetrin, a top artist under GMM Grammy. After that, she began working in modeling, commercials, children’s TV hosting, and acting in many well-known dramas, which led her to become one of the rising young stars of the 90s. While hosting a children’s program, she released one soundtrack album in 1994, which eventually led to an invitation to audition as a singer under GMM Grammy, the leading record label in Thailand. After passing the audition, the label trained her intensively in singing and dancing, and during that period she was asked to pause all acting work for two years so the public would gradually forget her image as an actress. This was part of GMM Grammy’s plan to build her identity as a full-fledged pop dance artist. After years of training and album preparation, she released her debut album Kat Around The Clock in 2001. It was a massive success, selling almost one million copies, and produced several of her most iconic hits such as “OK นะคะ,” “นอกสายตา,” “อย่าซื้อเวลา,” and “ติ๊กต๊อก.” Her success that year led to multiple follow-up projects including her involvement in the special dance-music compilation Cheer, a collaborative album with Mos Patiparn, and the group project 2002 ราตรี alongside China Dolls, Ya Ya Ying, and Jenny from JAMP.
