Born on a pig farm outside Manchester, Katie White first appeared as a teenager in girl group TKO. The band consisted of Katie and two friends, Joanne Leeton and Emma Lally. TKO supported acts like Steps and Five but never signed a record deal, and only released one internet-only single. In 2006, White formed The Ting Tings with Jules De Martino.
