Katherine Watson (born in England) is a British concert and opera singer with a soprano voice. In 2008, Watson completed her choral training at Trinity College Choir, University of Cambridge, where she studied and performed under the direction of Richard Marlow and Stephen Layton. She also studied Anglo-Saxon literature and history. During her time at college she performed several times as a soloist, for example with the Charpentier Consort, the Cambridge Clerkes and the Cambridge University Baroque Ensemble. Also in 2008, she won a place in the Jardin des Voix [Garden of Voices], the Les Arts Florissants ensemble's academy for exceptional voices. Since 2009 she has been presented by William Christie in London, New York, Madrid, Paris and other metropolises. Her vocal delivery was praised as elegant and perfectly intoned, and her singing culture was equated with “lyricism and sublimity,” according to Gramophone magazine. She was soon invited by a number of well-known conductors, including Paul Agnew, Leonardo García Alarcón, Harry Christophers, Laurence Cummings, Emmanuelle Haïm, Hervé Niquet, Raphaël Pichon, Trevor Pinnock and Jana Semerádová.
