Kat May (Katia Mayen) is a singer-songwriter who melds the melancholy moods of Scandinavia with the urban textures of London and the literary song-writing of her native France. In her first EP, “The Trees of Regents Park,” she seeks new energy and ideas in contrasts, mixing the warmth of a piano and cello with the grit of a rhythm guitar and drums. Nature infuses the songs, both as a source of nurturing as well as the stage of cruel reality, but the focus remains the human experience. Her music aims to be its expression, its story and wants to lead the listener deep into life. Like a path in the woods. That trail has led Katia from an early career in theater, in France and Sweden, as actress, stage director and vocal coach to reach, after twists and turns, the wilderness of London. It was after performing in the British capital with Saint Saviour as part of The Heard that she decided to dedicate herself full-time to writing and composing her own music.
