Karl Hinds is one of the most creative original talents in Hip Hop from Britain. He is the creator and C.E.O of Ill Flava Records http://www.illflavarecords.com/; he is one of the greatest Rappers from Britain of all time, and is considered one of the most original producers in the game. At 15 years old Karl decided to set up his first record label, Assassin Records was intended to be a Hip Hop label, but Karl decided to release a style of dance music called Jungle as the label’s first release, to raise money. The tune was successful but proved to be a steep learning curve for the young hustler on how long it could take for the money to make it back to the record label. By the time he had produced and released the label’s 4 th recording Karl decided he would need to develop another brand as Assassin Records had established it self as a Drum & Bass label. He produced and released 20 singles through Assassin Records all under different aliases. Ill Flava Records became a reality for Karl in 2000 when he released his debut single “Don Gramma”. This single earned Karl UK Hip Hop award nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Single in 2001, and won him the award for Best Video that year. Like all great producers Karl has created a sound that is unique and challenges the conventional sound of UK Hip Hop.
