Karin Leitner (born in Vienna in 1972) is an Austrian flautist and composer. She has played flute and piccolo with the orchestras of the Vienna State Opera and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Leitner plays a wooden flute. She also composes music for flute, harp and orchestra. In 2007 she recorded "Music of Great Irish Houses" as Karin Leitner & Cormac De Barra. Studies and diploma at the Academy of Music and Arts, Vienna (Prof. W. Schulz) and at the Academy of Music Freiburg, Germany (Prof. R. Aitken). Master classes with Peter Lukas Graf and Robert Aitken. Winner of the competitions Jugend musiziert, Musica Juventutis, Forum junger Künstler, Talentinum and Live Music Now (Yehudi Menuhin Foundation). Solo concerts with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Mozart Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec Kralove, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Filharmonique de Besancon, London Gala Orchestra, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Capella Istropolitana, Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra, Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovak Radio Orchestra and Bratislava Symphony Orchestra.
