When Karen was just a little girl, she used to wind up all her musical figurines at once - running from one to the other, just to keep the music going. She always preferred music over T.V.. In elementary school she took up the clarinet, and continued to play through her studies at SUNY Binghamton, in the Jazz Ensemble. After seeing Norah Jones play guitar at a concert, she set her sights on learning guitar, and shortly after began writing her own music.
