Kareem Lamar Rush (born October 30, 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American professional basketball player at shooting guard who last played with the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers. Rush's younger brother, Brandon, is currently with the Indiana Pacers, while older brother JaRon, played college basketball for UCLA. According to Kareem Rush’s estimation, it is, indeed, possible to have love for two, separate entities, even if they’re on opposite ends of the spectrum. In his case, sports and music run neck-in-neck and as fate would have it, he’s poised to carve out a place for himself in both arenas. Rush is keenly aware that after a near-decade in the NBA, his name, his likeness, is synonymous with basketball. Playing professionally has been a dream, actualized, one which he’s been working toward since he was eight years old. His was a childhood spent perfecting jump shots and free throws, but no matter how far he traveled from his Kansas City roots to compete in tournaments and championships, music remained his constant companion. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve been able to pick up a song within two or three times of hearing it,” notes Rush, who counts both Maxwell and Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, Musiq Soulchild, K-Ci & Jo-Jo and Robin Thicke among his influences. Not surprisingly, his musical tastes also vary between Coldplay and Kings of Leon (his top Karaoke picks) as well as 90s love ballads.
