Kantong Thungngern is a Thai luk thung–mor lam singer under Grammy Gold who has been active for over 20 years, but only recently reached nationwide phenomenon status in 2024 with her breakout hit “Jue Bor.” She first entered the music industry in 2004 under her birth name Pim Piyada, releasing an album titled “Kae Ma Tam Khao” through a small independent label. The album did not achieve notable success, but her career took a turn when her older sister, Dok Or Thungthong, one of Grammy Gold’s artists, encouraged her to audition for the label. After passing the audition, she officially debuted under Grammy Gold with a new stage name, Kantong Thungngern, chosen to align with her sister’s branding. Beginning in 2008, Kantong contributed to several special compilation albums and OST projects for drama series. In 2012, she released her first major-label album, a collaborative project with her sister titled “Euay Nong Rong Lum.” The album’s success helped establish recognition among luk thung audiences. In 2013, she joined Dok Or and Sorn Sinchai for the joint album “Mun Muan Saep”, which included the hit “Pai Thon Kham Saban” and significantly expanded her popularity.
