Kambrium is a German melodic death metal band. The band was founded in late autumn 2005. The founding members were Nils Peter Töpfer (vocals), Marc Brunke (drums), Julian Schenke (guitar), Jan Hein (formerly guitar, now keyboard), and Martin Simon (formerly only bass, now also vocals). Under this lineup, the first cover songs were rehearsed. However, in 2006, Nils Peter Töpfer left the band, and Philipp Engel took his place in March 2006. Kambrium's first performance took place victoriously on June 17, 2006, in a band battle. Due to stylistic differences, Philipp Engel left the band after only their second joint performance. He later founded the band Sylent Noise with other musicians. In addition to bass, Martin Simon now also took on the position of the singer. Another guitarist, Karsten Simon, joined the band in September 2006, and Jan Hein switched to the keyboard. After moving to a new rehearsal space, Jan Hein began writing original songs for the band, which were first performed publicly in November 2006. The band solidified, and more performances followed. At the "Waldbrand Open Air" organized by Marc Brunke and Jan Hein in 2007, Kambrium exclusively performed their own tracks and released their first mini-demo in October. Throughout 2008, the band worked on more songs and released a second demo in April 2008. In November 2008, they parted ways with their drummer Marc Brunke.
