In early 2006 he formed a rock band at high school playing covers and original rock songs. He played bass and wrote the majority of the music during it’s early phase. Started producing basic but industrial-fueled electronica using Fruity Loops, under the alias of ‘Kernel Panic’, in late 2006. Early productions were influenced by Aphex Twin, Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, Apartment 26, Mindless Self Indulgence, KMFDM and soundtracks to various atmospheric games. In 2007, he made the switch to Ableton Live for production. Kalix later started learning about advanced production and engineering techniques, and started listening to more dance-orientated music styles such as Drum & Bass and House. This is what moved him to start toying with four-to-the-floor house beats and electro basslines, influenced by the style of the big names in house, such as Daft Punk, Deadmau5, and Eric Prydz.
