Krishnan Nair Shantakumari Chitra or K. S. Chithra;born 27 July 1963) often credited as Chithra (or Chitra), is an Indian playback singer. Popularly and fondly referred to as Chinna Kuyil (English: Little Nightingale) of South India,[1] Chitra sings Indian classical, devotional, and popular music.She has lent her voice to Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Badaga and Punjabi films. She has recorded more than 19,000 film songs[2] and is a recipient of six National Film Awards (the most by any female singer), five Filmfare Awards and more than thirty different state film awards.
