K.O Katarn was the not-entirely-serious attempt at making techno music by a teenage boy situated in Australia. He took his name influence from an Australian DJ (Kid Kenobi), utilizing the Jedi reference (Kyle Katarn is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, the protagonist of the video game Star Wars: Dark Forces and its sequels¹), with K.O, the abbreviation of "Knock Out". Although mostly at a standard mid-pace, his songs were quite experimental in that odd samples and mixed genres were incorporated into songs. K.O produced all of his songs on the K.T.F.O album using a mix of two programs that [at the time] were widely available for home usage at a very low cost. Although listed as re-mixes, a few of his songs were actually the original and only versions produced. The simple reason for this being that he believed they sounded more like re-mixed versions than original songs. The only song that K.O Katarn produced that he ever liked was "Iris". K.O Katarn is currently working on other non-electro musical projects (centered around metal/rock genres) since he stopped producing songs in 2001/2002. There is a slight possibility that he may return to electro as K.O Katarn in the near future, with a focus on drum n bass & dubstep subgenres.
