This is not art. This is pure, over-conceptualized catharsis; the hopefulness of capturing raw emotion on tape. It's hit-and-miss on that front but there are rules that must be followed to even come close to achieving that brand of purity: 1. All of the music must be completely improvised. From the tuning to the chords and notes and finally to the singing/screaming/chanting. I have broken this rule twice by improvising things that turned out shit and were re-recorded with the same concepts but with different execution, though the re-recordings happened immediately after the failed take. This happened twice ("You're Alive" and "Blind (Aside from the Amplight)". Also: my new album, which I am finishing up tonight, contains a song ("Sorry, Pt. 6") which used a melody I have been been meddling with for years, though the singing is improvised. It is unique in my rule-breaking, though, because it is to be re-recorded at some point, though I won't get into all of that right now since I'm getting way ahead of myself. There's also the next song ("I'm Kind of Dumb and So Are You") which is a super-super special concession but I'll describe it later. 2. The music must be recorded to tape. It must be analogue... The magnetic properties of tape are what inspired the name K Equals Sigma Subscript H Sigma Subscript V. It must be recorded onto the Spirit Caravan, which is my tape recorder (even the Marshmallow Dream, though filmed, was also separately recorded to the SC). Just an old-sch
