His American and Irish ancestors may have endowed the British guitarist, vocalist and singer-songwriter Justin Lavash with sensitive perception to classic sources of contemporary music, especially blues and folk. He can use the classic elements of those roots in his work; he is also able to modify them to suit his intentions entirely. Lavash lives in the Czech Republic and he tours Europe on a regular basis; he has become a much-welcome guest in many festivals of various music styles as well as in the programs of prestigious club stages. Lavash's work has won acclaim both for the unique songwriting style and for his mastery of the guitar and voice. The above becomes rather self-evident considering that he has had lots of practice in England and the USA as a sideman and arranger in a multitude of projects of various genres. His work also suggests that the frequent visits to France have given him opportunity to delve into the specific emotional nature of the chanson. It goes without saying that Lavash is one of the most interesting and most versatile artists of the contemporary Czech music scene.
