Jussi Fredriksson (b.1980) belongs to most interesting young jazz-pianists in Finland. His melodic, profound, and dynamic style is a result of versatile studies and research on both jazz and classical music. In November 2009 he released his debut album Busy Turtles. Jussi Fredriksson was born in Turku, Finland on the 20th of March, 1980 and started to play the piano at the age of 5. One year later he started classical studies at Turku Conservatory. Because of always being interested in improvisation and playing by ear, Jussi got into jazz at the age of 12 after being inspired by his brother, who is a professional guitarist in Finland. After that he traveled around Finland to take private lessons with the best jazz musicians in Finland. These private mentors included Severi Pyysalo and Seppo Kantonen, which then allowed Jussi to do all kinds of gigs, ranging from classical to jazz. After graduating from Puolalanmaki High School, he was accepted at the jazz department of Sibelius-Academy and soon after he moved to Helsinki in 2000. Jussi has studied the art of jazz piano with musicians such as Jarmo Savolainen, Jukkis Uotila, Jim Beard, Phil Markowitch, and David Kikoski among others. His wonderful classical teacher is Elzbieta Guzek from Poland.
