The lovechild of Shirley Manson and Delores O'Riordan, thrust through a raging multi layered pop-maelstrom of drums, bass, keys, guitars and close harmonies, Jump: Press A are an energetic and entertaining band who like to put on a performance. Their songs are multi-layered mini-epics with dark lyrics that strike hard against a background of quirky riffs and pop driven melodies. Lead guitarist Lesley and drummer Nora, both from Glasgow, met Northern Irish singer Kelagh while at Uni in Edinburgh. Later down the line they were joined by bassist Gavin, who like Kelagh also hails from near Derry. Recently they have also been joined by Garry on Keys and Fraser on rhythm guitar, both from the 'burgh. Influences are varied, ranging through Halo, Pixies, Idlewild, Doves, 65 Days of Static, Amplifico, Placebo, Radiohead, Prodigy, PJ Harvey, Spooks, Garbage, Muse, Fugazi, Philip Glass to Steve Reich. "The band’s blistering brand of ‘angry pop’ features six-strings aplenty...... their live sound is a melody-fuelled juggernaut with the accelerator rammed to the floor... They unleash an impressive set of gigantic tunes; mighty white-hot melting pots of noise, with impressive vocals and a splintering display of aggressive axewomanship." --- Edinburgh Spotlight --- “This band create a panoramic cacophony that is rare, remarkable and pure. ….Jump: Press A demand that you not only listen but that you participate on every level. We need this band like we need a shot in the arm.” --- Ju
