Julian Riem was born in Munich in 1973, studied under Michael Schäfer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and under Michel Béroff at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. He finally continued his studies in the solo performance class of Rudolf Buchbinder at the Basel Music Academy, where he received the diploma for solo performance with distinction. Julian Riem won international piano competitions in Modena, Madrid and Florence, and was awarded a scholarship at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb (German Music Competition). As a soloist, chamber musician and Lied accompanist he is regularly touring Europe and Japan. Performances at international festivals, such as the piano music festival "Liszt-en-Provence", "Musica mundi" in Brussels, the "European Music Academy" in Aix-en-Provence, the "Sándor Vegh International Chamber Music Academy" in Prague, the "Sofia Music Weeks", the "Rolf Liebermann Podium" Hamburg, "Les Muséiques" in Basel, the "Münchner Biennale" and the "Munich Opera Festival". Together with Johannes Dengler, he initially started working with Markus Wolf in the "Münchner Horntrio" in 1999. A collaboration, which they soon continued as a constant duo. Numerous concert engagements confirm their mutual success.
