As one of the Midwest’s premiere downtempo and funk DJs and producers, 31 year-old Jude Goergen (Jugoe) has been spinning dubbed-out, jazz-laden beats for over 9 years. From playing the main room and pier at NYC’s Turntables on the Hudson, to a packed floor at San Fran’s Dub Mission, Jugoe has been fortunate enough to spread his sound across the country and throughout the world. Having performed in over a dozen cities nationwide, as well as Vancouver B.C. and Amsterdam NL, he is well on his way to becoming an industry favorite. Thus far, he has had 6 releases on Brooklyn-based Bastard Jazz Recordings, as well as releases on Shadow, Instinct and Funk Wax Recordings. He has also remixed artists like Vienna’s Ed Royal and DJ Enne, Wonderwheel Recording’s Zeb, San Francisco hip-hop / funk ensemble Finless Brown and L.A.’s Eyesight Project. His music has also been licensed for MTV Europe, a Santa Cruz commercial, a 411 DVD, two independent films, and has been contracted by several design firms for sound design and production, including work for the Cleveland Clinic, and Virginia Marti College. Whether he’s rocking a packed dance floor of 1500 people at Turntables on the Hudson, or playing a 5 hour set at a small lounge in Downtown Cleveland, his ability to blend Afro-beat, Latin-breaks, dub, downtempo, broken beats, hip-hop and the occasional rock joint can keep just about any crowd interested.
