Juca Chaves (1938 in Rio de Janeiro, as Jurandir Czaczkes) is a Brazilian comedian, singer and writer well known for his irreverence. An active critic of the Brazilian military dictatorship, he went to exile in the early 1970’s, first in Portugal and later Italy. After his return to Brazil, he hosted a program on national TV and subsequently made a career as a comedian. He currently lives in Bahia.
