Jr. Ortiz formally a member of Dickie Betts' Band of The Allman Brothers Band, started his musical career at the age of 12 playing in local Hartford, Ct. latin bands of Guillermo Mendes, Orchestra Luna, Fidel Lopez, Ray Gonzalez, La Sabrosa, Consistencia and many others. Jr. also performed with The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Giovanni Hidalgo, Heny Alvarez and many Jazz, R & B, Pop and funk Bands. He was the founder, leader and percussionist of the Eclipse Latin Jazz Band. Ortiz recieved his formal music education at The Hartford Conservatory of Music and Dance. He graduated from the Jazz and Popular music program. He has performed with three Grammy Award winners the " King of Latin Music " Tito Puente( Oye Como Va', Ran Kan Kan ), Horacio " El Negro " Hernandez of Santana and Dickie Betts ( Ramblin' Man, Blue Sky, Jessica, In memory of Elizabeth Reed ). Jr. Ortiz can be heard on many recordings such as the Mark May " The Doll Maker " , Kingdom " Serious ", Nick Mathis " Lets Make Some Kind Of Magic " and has also recorded with George Gritzbach, Miguel Beltran Orrin Bolton brother of superstar Michael Bolton and many others. He has perfomed in venues from 5 different House of Blues to Lincoln Center in New York City............ Jr. Ortiz is currently residing in Florida, USA where he is working on an upcoming Cd project.
