Joy Autumn is an American singer/songwriter and pianist from Seattle, WA. Joy first stepped in front of an audience at the age of five, singing “On the Good Ship Lollipop” at a local singing recital. “As soon as I got up and sang I fell in love with entertaining, and I told everyone that I was going to be a real singer someday!” Joy recalls. Joy soon developed an interest in writing songs as well. “I’d run around in circles in the front yard, singing and making up tunes,” she says. “Then I’d come inside and improvise little piano parts with them and record them on my cassette player. I was only five or six but I wanted to be just like Mariah Carey and Amy Grant!” In the years that followed Joy performed in musicals, school concerts and also at local cafes. When she wasn't performing, she was practicing - spending countless hours writing songs and horning her skills on the piano and the guitar. "As soon as I’d get home from school, I’d run to my room to practice," she says. "I was a bit lonely growing up and music was the thing that kept me going, especially as a teenager." At seventeen, Joy began music school, first briefly at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA before attending the University of Washington in Seattle where she pursued music composition as well as classical piano and voice.
