Artist
Joseph Joseph was born in Mombassa, Kenya. Joseph’s father being an accomplished musician, ensured Joseph was surrounded by music throughout the initial stages of his life. The sounds of the great singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Indian singing legends Mohamed Rafi and Lata Mangesh Kar provided early influences on Joseph’s musical style. Other vocalists that were to later touch Joseph include Udit Narayan, Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye. Joseph’s musical influences are Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Ben Harper, and Pankaj Udas. In addition to singing with a distinct vocal style, Joseph also plays the guitar. Joseph has been songwriting for many years, and is constantly writing new material. Joseph’s music has gravity; his lyrics proclaim a positive message of love, peace, revolution, and the conversations of war, freedom and God. To provide a vehicle for the eclectic musical styles that had developed, Joseph formed the band “Out of Karma” as singer and front man for the band Joseph shared his gift and took his message to the people. Eastern Eye Magazine, the top UK publication for the Asian community has featured the band, the music, the message, and the band member’s personalities in a full cover story. Joseph has successfully managed to build a fan base across the midlands and as far a field as Trinidad, to New Zealand. He has received airplay on BBC radio, as well as a succession of other independent radio stations throughout the UK, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. Joseph
