Jordan E. Spivack is a composer/lyricist who lives in Nanuet, NY, where he is a full time private piano teacher. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Jordan started piano lessons at 5 years old after his parents discovered he had the gift of music composition. From ages 5 to 9 he was a featured solo singer on the radio station in Parkersburg, W.Va. as a member of The Sammons Merrymakers. At 10 years old he studied piano and music theory (for 3 years) at Cornell University. Jordan was a member of the rock band The Creation while in HS in Cortland, NY. After receiving a BM from Ithaca College, he went on to receive his MM in composition, theory and piano from Indiana U. Since then he has written many pop songs, classical, new age, world, electronica and jazz tunes, 2 musicals for children, and the opera: "A Better Way", with libretto by Joseph P. Lanzone. He is also the composer/lyricist of The Red Ribbon Theme Song: “Hands Across The Universe”, which has been learned and performed by over 15,000 students K–12 in NYS in the past 14 years. Jordan's solo piano composition "Commercial Street", from my CD "My Provincetown", was the winner of "Best International Instrumental Song" in the 2008 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards (11-9-08).
