Jon 7 was born and raised in Asheville NC, where he took muisc lessons for many years and played virtually any instrument he could get his hands on. In later teenage years he cut his teeth playing bass in a garage band with other religious rejects from his church. After playing in several other bands in Asheville's slowly percolating music scene, bands such as the Electric Dream Sweeper and Night of The Lepus, he began to explore more solo electronic music, Between having access to a studio he worked in with mentor John 1 www.psychoacousticresearch.us and the home computer studio of Jay Martin, he began to work with drum machines, MIDI and multi track recording. He also began DJing in 1997 and turned his back on live music for a while. He began by spinning mostly ambient records mixed with whatever DJ vinyl could be had in Asheville at the time, which wasn't much. In the years following, Jon 7 became a very popular DJ in the Asheville scene. While this provided him with much valuable experience in music selection, mixing, and crowd control, he found the Asheville DJ scene too limiting and far too clickish for a town of so small a size. He packed his bags and headed for the West Coast, where he was told his style would fit in well. He moved to Eugene, OR, where he spent two and a half years taking care of an elderly freind until he passed away. During this time, Jon 7 took the opportunity to develop his own style of production, DJing and remixing, with many good results,
