Johnny Ekman & H.I.V. was a punk band formed originally in Tammela/Somero, Finland in February 2008. H.I.V. (as the band is often shortened) was originally known as Rasite, but they had to rename the band, because another band with the name Rasite already existed. The line-up was: Johnny (guitar and vocals), Jasse (drums and vocals) and Bodo (bass and vocals). 50 copies of H.I.V.'s legendary first self-titled demo were printed, and the demo quickly sold out. Most of their songs were written by Johnny, but Jasse also wrote a lot of songs. Bodo wrote a few songs as well. Their second demo, Monoa Naamaan, was released in April 2009. It contained more songs than the first demo, and the songs were also more aggressive. Johnny Ekman & H.I.V. was split in July 2009 due to Johnny's moving to Tampere where he would start a new garage band. Also Jasse and Bodo formed a new punk band, Tohtori Koira. H.I.V. made a brief comeback in November 2013, playing three songs after a Tohtori Koira gig in Helsinki. In September 2014 they played a full reunion gig in Helsinki.
