John Wayne Shot Me consist of: Marieke(keyboard & vocals), Merijn (bass), Geert (drums, vocals), Thijs (guitar, vocals). They have been described as European LoFi's finest. Since the band's birth in 1999, John Wayne Shot Me have been pretty busy multiplying contacts all over the world and putting out their songs on various compilations. They have toured with Fuck, Grandaddy(with whom they released a split 7”), Papas Fritas, Tahiti 80, opening for Mr Daniel Johnston at Paradiso. John Wayne Shot Me may remind the listener of Lou Barlow, The Moldy Peaches, They Might Be Giants, Ben Kweller, the Muppet Show Band and the Rutles. They write unusual songs - as well as the standard mix of guitars, keyboards, drums and bass, they use anything else they can get their hands on to enhance their lo-fi pop miniatures. However, this does nothing to detract from the inventiveness and quality of the songwriting. Since their debut album "Fortran Catapult", the members of John Wayne Shot Me have been living their lives studying, working and further discovering Scandinavia. They had a mini-hit song on Norwegian radio with "Hollywood" and have toured in the country three times.
