Artist
Although not technically a founding member of the Dubliners, John Sheahan is considered by most to be one of the "Original Dubliners," playing fiddle with the group from 1964 until 2012, following the death of Barney McKenna. Most consider the "Original Dubliners to be Luke Kelly, Ronnie Drew, Ciarán Bourke, Barney McKenna, and Sheahan. Sheahan, born 19 May 1939, is the son and grandson of Irish policemen (Garda) and is the only member of the original Dubliners to have had a formal musical education, having study classical violin at the Municipal School of Music in Dublin for more than five years.
