John Gallagher Jr. (born John Howard Gallagher Jr. in Wilmington, Delaware, on 17 June 1984) is an American musician (and actor) best known for originating the role of Moritz Stiefel in the 2006 rock musical Spring Awakening. After landing the role of Moritz Stiefel in the original Broadway casting of the hit rock musical Spring Awakening, Gallagher played the lead in the Broadway musical adaptation of Green Day's American Idiot. In January 2016, Gallagher released his debut album "Six Day Hurricane" via Rockwood Music Hall Recordings, under the name Johnny Gallagher.
