Born July 10th, 1953 in Letmathe, Johannes Nitsch was one of Germany's most important musicians and song writers for contemporary Christian music. He studied music at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and led the music department of the ERF (evangelical radio broadcasting) in Wetzlar from 1978 to 1982. Afterwards he worked freelance with brief employments as music referent for the CVJM, a Christian youth organisation, and as producer for the Hänssler Verlag. His works consist of more than 200 compositions ranging from Jazz, Soul, and Pop to Gospel and modern interpretations of chorals, including several musicals and countless arrangements for other Christian artists, among them Manfred Siebald, Cae Gauntt, Kathi Arndt, Christoph Zehender, Peter Strauch, David Plüss, Jan Vering, Jürgen Werth, Clemens Bittlinger, Carlos Martinez, Helmut Kandert, and Florian Sitzmann. Johannes Nitsch died 49 years old in September 5th, 2002 after a failed surgery, leaving his wife Anneliese and two sons.
