Artist
Johann Nauwach became a chorister in Dresden, and he spent the greater part of his life, apart from a period of study in Italy with the lutenist Lorenzo Allegri. His study of Italian song led to a collection of Italian songs with continuo and a subsequent collection of German songs written following the same principles of italian monody, a form in which he provides an early link between Italian and German practice.
