about

Johann Georg Orschler (* around 1698 in Breslau, Principality of Breslau ; † between 1767 and 1770) was a Silesian composer and violinist. Johann Georg Orschler received his first music lessons from Michael Kirsten (1682–1742), the organist at the Magdalenenkirche in Breslau. He found a first job as a page with the music-loving Count Zierotin in Falkenberg in the Principality of Oppeln . This financed him further musical studies, so he received violin lessons from Johann Otto Rosetter (1690-1752), and Johann Joseph Fux taught him composition. Around 1726 Orschler lived in Prague and from 1730 he was a violinist for the archdeacon , the Count of Thurn and Valsassina in Olmütz. From 1736 to around 1750 he was Kapellmeister to Prince Liechtenstein . Most recently, he was listed as a member of the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle .
