Artist
Johann Abraham Schmierer (born 1661 in Augsburg , † June 11, 1719 ) was a German composer of the Baroque era. Nothing is known about his origin. Schmierer was from 1673 to 1680 "chalknabe" in the Augsburger Dom . He then studied with a scholarship of the cathedral chapter at the University of Dillingen philosophy and then at the University of Salzburg legal science , where he was promoted as a doctor. An application for the position of Kapellmeister at the Augsburg Cathedral remained unsuccessful. Later he became director of the Fuggerschen Foundation in Augsburg.
