Johan Schurer was born on the 5th of June 1970 in Anna Paulowna, The Netherlands. From early age on he was interested in electronic instruments. He collected anything he could get his hands on varying from schematics to theoretical electronic music. His dad gave him his first synthesizer for his 15th birthday and had classical piano and organ lessons. Since he grew up in the 80's his influences are clearly from that period. The ideas of Groupe Recherché Musicales (Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry etc. see musique concrete), Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre are a heavy influence in his work. He uses old analog instruments combined with modern day technology.
