Johan Cruijff (25 April 1947 – 24 March 2016) is the number one football icon from The Netherlands. Born in Amsterdam, he is generally seen as one of the greatest football players ever and played for AFC Ajax, FC Barcelona, Los Angeles Aztecs, Washington Diplomats, Levante, Feyenoord and the Dutch national team. After his career as a player he became a football coach/manager for AFC Ajax and FC Barcelona. Cruijff recorded one single as a singer: the classic Oei oei oei (Dat was me weer een loei) (1969), a party tune written and produced by early Dutch rock & roll star Peter Koelewijn. It reached #21 in the Dutch singles charts and has a cult status in The Netherlands today. The song is about a boxer having a particularly unpleasant time against a stronger opponent. The loosely translates as: 'Oh, oh, oh, that was another hell of a blow'. Upon arriving in Barcelona, the Spanish branch of Polydor decided to release the single in Spain as well, where it was rather popular. On 24 March 2016, Cruyff died in Barcelona, Spain.
