Joe O'Donnell (born in Limerick on 4 September 1948) is an Irish violinist as well as a mandolin-player, singer and composer. He is best known for his fiery and innovative playing in East of Eden, Headstone, Mushroom, The Woods Band, Granny's Intentions, and his acclaimed 1977 violin-led concept album, Gaodhal's Vision that featured Rory Gallagher, Theodor Thunder (Alan Price Band), David Lennox (The Equals, Ginger Baker, Blodwyn Pig) and Bill Smith (Long John Baldry, Leo Sayer). in the mid 2000s, O'Donnell gigged up and down England with his bands Call a Doctor and Yan Tan Tether, O'Donnell plays out his powerful five-piece Celtic/rock band Joe O'Donnell's Shkayla whose album, 'Celtic Cargo', was released in 2008.
