Jodi Shaw was born in Newfoundland, Canada. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. Shaw has created six bodies of work, including "The Myth of Patience" (2000), "Lo Budget Live" (2002), "The Pie-Love Sky" (2003), "Snow on Saturn" (2005), "Saturn Returns" (2011), and "In Waterland" (2011). Her first two albums, "The Myth of Patience" and "The Pie-Love Sky," are the work of a young yet highly original artist finding her voice. They feature highly melodic, definitively original lyricism, and a bare-bones acoustic guitar cover of Yaz's "Only You." After releasing her third album, the sparse and haunting "Snow on Saturn" (which includes a jubilant version of "The Book of Love" by the Magnetic Fields), Jodi commenced a three month tour of Europe, after which she spent much of her time back in NYC busking on the subway platforms and writing songs. In the spring of 2009 (shortly after she found out she was pregnant!) she teamed up with fellow Canadian Malcolm Burn to record two new albums: the live in-studio album "Saturn Returns," in which she collaborates with a full band to play some of her older songs with a New-Orleans-Dixie twist, and "In Waterland," a richly layered work featuring her signature haunting vocals, startling lyrics, and unique phrasing. After recording the initial tracks, Jodi discovered that not only was she pregnant, but she was giving birth to twins!
