Artist
Jimmy Hawk (formerly of The Rumours) is one of Melbourne’s well-regarded folk-psych treasures, an always shifting exploratory songwriter, Born On A Mountain marks his best work to date. With a sound that could only be described as dream filled, Jimmy Hawk sings songs about faded romances and kaleidoscopic affairs, reminiscing on youth and desire with his soulful melodies and swaggering charm, evoking the brilliance of the Beach Boys, Neil Young and Dylan. In 2006, Jimmy’s debut EP ‘For You Blue’ garnered much interest internationally and landed him festival spots in the US at the Mid-West Music Summit and International Pop Overthrow. With the tour that followed he supported favourites such as Cold War Kids, Silversun Pick Ups Kelley Stoltz. Locally, Jimmy Hawk has also been fortunate enough to share the stage with artists such as Wagons, Dan Kelly, Dave Graney, Matt Joe Gow and Little Red.Recorded to tape with cult engineer/producer Nao Anzai, (Laura, Tic Toc Tokyo, Kes Band, Damo Suzuki) the EP is a promising prelude to his debut album. Born On A Mountain EP will be available at iTunes and other digital stores on October 31st with limited edition physical copies only available at this shows. “J.Hawk a.k.a James Rumour makes even more delightful countrified pop/ folk under his new nom de plume - bloody brilliant!! “ — Clem Bastow, Inpress Magazine “lovely pastoral folk from an experienced journeyman!
