about

Jerôme Hol (1981) has been playing guitar since he was eleven years old. Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones were the reason for Jerome to exchange his saxophone for an electric guitar. In 1996 Jerôme was inspired by an impressive concert by Yngwie Malmsteen. During that period he was playing with various bands, of which 'Anthropoid' and 'The Hype'. From 1999 to 2001 he mainly toured the club circuit with the band called 'The Open'. Initially Jerôme was a student at the academy of music in Alkmaar starting in 1999, then he switched to the academy of music in Rotterdam. His tutors were renowned guitarists like Klaus Flenter, Paul Hock, Ronald Schmitz and Ed Verhoeff. In 2003 Jerôme won the SENA Guitar Awards with his Jerôme Hol Trio. In March of 2003 he recorded a mini CD in the Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum. He played with his trio in various clubs and worked as a session guitarist in many projects. He played, among others, with Harry Emmery, Michael Varekamp, Hans van Oosterhout, Dick de Graaf, Pieter Douma, Erik Kooger, Ronald Schmitz, Thijs van Leer, Hans Hasebos, and Saskia le Roo. Jerome left for New York City in May of 2005. There he studied with Wayne Krantz, Steve Cardenaz, and Hiram Bullock. On the 13th of June 2005 he graduated from the Rotterdam academy of music. After recording his latest CD 'Jerome Hol with Bernardo Fesch and Benoit Martiny', he won the Amersfoort Jazz Talent Award in may 2007. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons
