Artist
Jennifer Lewis played in a skiffle group at school and went on to write songs in the 1960s and sing in a group with Vashti Bunyan and Angela Strange called The Three of Us. She shared digs with Vashti when they were students at the Ruskin School of Art in Oxford and taught Vashti to play on her old guitar, Benji. They played college gigs and did a few radio and tv appearances including Ready Steady Go! The duo released two records on the Verve Folkways label. Jennifer and Angela recently teamed up again with Vashti for a gig at the Zodiac in Oxford. Vashti's Train Song, based on a song co-written by Jennifer called 17 Pink Sugar Elephants, was used on an iconic US Reebok commercial. Jennifer now teaches poetry at Oxford, writes plays and has started to write songs again. Find out more at her website jennylewis.org.
