Jencarlos Jencarlos Canela (born April 21, 1988) is an American actor and award-winning singer-songwriting musician having won the Breakout Artist of the Year award at the Premio Lo Nuestro 2011. He is best known for playing the leading roles in the telenovelas Más Sabe el Diablo and Mi Corazón Insiste and most recently Pasión Prohibida. Biography Canela was born in Miami, Florida to Cuban parents, Lisette and Heriberto Canela. He is the older brother of actor, Jason Canela and has two older siblings, both from his parents. Personal Life In September 2011, Jencarlos Canela and Gaby Espino (Venezuelan actress and model) did a live chat over social networking site Twitter, where they confirmed they were in relationship and announced that they were expecting their first child together. The godparents are going to be Cristina Saralegui and Pitbull. Espino gave birth to their son, Nickolas Canela Espino, on February 12, 2012. Music career At the age of 12 Jencarlos began his musical career as the lead singer of the group "Boom Boom Pop". After two years of successful participation with the group he decided to start his solo career in late 2002.
