Jemma is the current Melbourne standby for Elphaba, and a former Universal Studios Japan Elphaba. We're so glad she got the part - she completely deserved it, and is absolutely fabulous. Her Defying Gravity will nail you to the floor. If you're lucky enough to catch her at the stage door after a show, she is amazingly down-to-earth and will so happily talk to fans; she even shared with us that she loves it when people clap and cheer after a song or when she first makes her entrance. What's more, she remembers her fans the second time! Unbelievably sweet and funny. Jem also has the best signature ever - if you're fortunate enough to get an autograph, you'll definitely agree! As for what she's got planned post-Wicked, she has mentioned that she's more of a pop singer than a musical theatre stage actress. Perhaps we'll be hearing more of her...on radio? Fingers crossed! Jemma grew up on the Central Coast of NSW, performing from the age of 4 in various amateur musical theatre productions. At 21 she moved to Melbourne to enhance and develop her skills and opportunities as a Musical Theatre performer. After a number of commercial engagements, Jemma was cast as the Bride in the Monster Rock and Roll Show (Universal Studios Japan). There she was also cast as Elphaba in a world-first staged adaptation of WICKED, and has since lived and breathed the production and the character of Elphaba, making her even more thrilled to be a part of the Australian premiere.
