Jefferson Golfcart is a psychedelic garage-rock trio currently residing in Michigan. They have played shows in much of the greater Detroit area. On their first full-length, "Hats", the band composed of guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Michael Croteau, bassist/vocalist Sean St. Peter, and drummer Jeff Thieleman, wears many hats -- from funky downtempo grooves to upbeat, in-your-face psychpunk reminiscent of Sonic Youth. Influenced by a variety of musicians, from 60s era psychedelic music to funk, grunge, punk/noise-rock, avant garde music, and much more. Their album, including the aggressive and whimsical "Reptiles Are Intrigued", their self-proclaimed prog epic "Edwards Quick Whim", and the hard-rocking, bluesy intro track, "Karma Dude" is almost devoid of filler, with the possible exception of the laid-back instrumental, "Sandwich Song" (with voice mails from Mike Croteau's oft-filled in-box dubbed over the music) and the ending track, "We Live With Our Parents" which is a poppy, funky tune with each member of the band taking turns bemoaning their suburban existence between a catchy harmonized hook. Jefferson Golfcart is a band that could be considered very accessible to fans of bands or genres mentioned previously, as well as fans of other groups such as fellow Detroit rockers Child Bite, and more nationally recognized groups or artists including Man Man, Syd Barrett, Primus/Les Claypool, Faith No More, etc. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By
