Artist
JEFF KLEPPER is a cantor and composer of some of the first Jewish-American rock hits, including "Shalom Rav" and "Lo Alecha." He has performed alongside Theo Bikel, Peter Yarrow, Debbie Friedman and the late Shlomo Carlebach. He records as a solo artist and with Dan Freelander in their duo, Kol B'seder (named as one of the top Jewish music groups by Moment Magazine.) Raised in New York City, Jeff began to play the guitar at age eight. Influenced by Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles, Klepper helped to create a new style of song-leading and composition in Jewish camps and youth groups beginning in the late 1960s. He made his first recording of Jewish songs at 17 and has been composing ever since. Over the past three decades, Jeff has combined folk, rock, jazz and world-music sounds with Hebrew texts and original English lyrics to create a new and unique Jewish musical style. His services are celebrations of the Jewish spirit. His concerts are warm and joyous happenings. Jeff lives in Boston, MA, where he teaches, composes and performs full time, as a solo artist, with klezmer, rock and jazz musicians and, of course, with Kol B'seder. He presents workshops on Jewish Humor, Music and Healing, Worship and Spirituality, and the (Jewish) Music of Bob Dylan.
