Artist
Growing up in tiny Rockglen, Saskatchewan didn't open much of a window on the music scene, but there was always oldies on a.m. radio and Neil Young on the cassette tape in her dad's pick-up truck. Eventually, there was dial-up Internet. A few years later she found herself in a van with a Saskatoon band, driving half way across Canada. This prairie kid has now toured across the country to play for everyone from art school aesthetes to old folks, either solo or opening for the Saskatoon collective Slow Down, Molasses or Regina's Library Voices. She's had the opportunity to open for the likes of Buffy Sainte Marie, Elliott Brood, Rock Plaza Central, Shotgun Jimmie, Octoberman, The Mohawk Lodge, The Wooden Sky and Timber Timbre. Her music was featured on the NXEW and The Indie Files blogs as well as the Herohill and Mendel Art Gallery podcasts. She is working on a debut EP with producer Orion Paradis (Library Voices, Northcote, The Lazy MKs) to be released in spring 2010, full of forlorn love songs and endearing two-chord balladry. "Jeanette Stewart is Saskatoon's twee-punk princess. Performing with an ever-evolving gaggle of boys (aka "The Brodeo"), her songs are both fragile and messy, much like modern life." - Phil Greer, Vive Music Saskatoon. "kinda indie, country, sweet heart sound that dabbles in more upbeat songs... think Patsy Cline meets Julie Doiron." - Longevity John, Duncan Garage Showroom User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA Licen
