Artist
Tacoma crooner Paul Dally lives in Brooklyn, now, but stays connected to the Pacific Northwest through music, singing about home with his band Vacation. Sadly, Vacation is basically unknown β but the band did have a brush with fame when The New York Times premiered the music video for "Jeane" a few months back. Now Dally has launched another artistic entity with the same name, and given the world a free gift: Jeane's Hidden House EP. So far, Jeane sounds like Vacation but a little more free-form*, Dally meandering with his baritone moan & groan over loops and bass lines. Some of the music is Talking Heads-ish, some of it uses the "Be My Baby" beat. It's all Halloween-ish to me β shadow-y, playful β and as Seattle's current late-blooming summer turns to fall, I'm hearing "Hidden House" as an autumn record. Dig Dally's vocal delivery on "Bedlam Rose," kind of a bump & grind The Strokes ballad. *UPDATE: I've learned they are the same band, with a different name.
