Artist
Jean-Paul Imbert (born July 19, 1942 in Clermont-Ferrand) is a French organist. Imbert received piano and organ lessons from an early age. At the age of fifteen he became organist at Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc de Clermont-Ferrand in his hometown. From 1962 to 1965 he studied in Paris with Pierre Cochereau and Jean Guillou. From 1971 to 1993 he was assistant organist in Saint-Eustache. In 1982 he became a lecturer at the Schola Cantorum in Paris. In 1993 he was appointed organist at the Notre Dame des Neiges church in Alpe d'Huez, where he was responsible for conducting the concert series. In 2004 he was appointed Chevalier des Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Ministry of Education and in 2010 he was made an officer. In 2014 he was awarded Chevalier des Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the Minister of Education.
