Jean-Marie Machado, a major pianist on the French music scene, has made a name for himself in Europe in the past three years through performances with the “Sextet Andaloucia” and “Trio Time” (2 records released by Harmonia Mundi), as well as his superb collaboration with saxophonist David Liebman (PAO Records). A prolific composer, he artfully blends jazz, classical and ethnic musical influences, especially from the Mediterranean region. His new 9-person band is currently causing a sensation in France. “Danzas” represents an invitation to the colorful world of dance music from all walks of life, creatively adapted and reinvented by Jean-Marie Machado.
