Jean-Michel Bernard began playing piano at the age of two. He has composed and produced numerous scores for films, television series and commercials and has collaborated with Claude Bolling, Lalo Schifrin and Ennio Morricone to name a few. He had the privilege to have worked frequently with Ray Charles from 1999 to 2004 as a pianist, organist, and at times, conductor, composer, and arranger. (album Ray Charles quartet "live in Melbourne" etc.). Most recently, he has worked in Los Angeles with screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovitch) and multi-talented French director Michel Gondry (Bjork, Rolling Stones, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind-Golden Globe awards nomination 2005) on the film Human Nature (Cannes festival 2001) for which he composed and recorded the songs performed by Patricia Arquette and the Seattle Symphonic orchestra.
